Ships Log: August 26

Tuesday evening ship's log from A watch.

Today, students woke to a thick wall of classic Maine fog. "It was kind of nice because it was cool while hauling up the anchor" explained one student.

The fog didn't stop us though. We made our way through the fog to Port Clyde where we were met with beautiful sunny weather.

So far, the only casualties have been a broken bowl and a dropped mug overboard "but nothing else, and we played a great game of dishes improv." Kerplunk.

While underway, students practiced their knots. "We learned a bowline and a reef knot."

Port clyde, "its just that". Home of the lighthouse from Forrest Gump. Run Forrest run!

We went to Herring Gut Coastal Science Center. Here students got to hold a bunch of sea creatures like starfish and hermit crabs. "There were blue lobsters and a calico lobster that has cancer." "We collected phytoplankton from the water to look at under a microscope too." The scientists gave ice cream sandwiches to the students at the end.

Students got Gatorade and seltzer from the gift shop as well as resupplied the ginger candies. "We are addicted to gin gins!"
