Captains Log: The Voyage to New York City - The First Few Days

June 24th

Beautiful day to start a trip of a lifetime!  Boarded Students and got everyone settled and then underway to anchor out in the harbor for our first night.  Lots of orientation to do onboard and many questions asked and answered.  Everyone is settling in nicely and enjoying the first night out. A delicious dinner and fun evening games and then started our first anchor watch. 

June 25th

The crew was up at the crack of dawn to haul back our Anchor so we could start our trip south! The students were then woken up for breakfast and after were set to work with our morning chores. Lots of dishes and cleaning done everyday to keep the ship looking ship shape. After chores we set all of our sails to help us along and sailed for Gloucester! We split into 2 watches each taking turns steering the ship, keeping look out, and doing boat checks, while the other watch got to take a break. But not many breaks were taken as the off watches wanted to help the crew with projects! Shined up all of our brass onboard, made some new sail ties, learned knots and line handlining and much more. Anchored in Gloucester outer harbor a little before sunset and settled in for another quiet night aboard, everyone tired but excited about a busy and productive day!
