We made it up the river to Mystic on the 30th after a long day of motoring and sailing down from Provincetown. We caught a few hours of pure sailing along the way — always a treat — with fog rolling in and out for most of the passage. All systems aboard were running smoothly.
The students settled into the rhythm of the trip and had a wonderful time in Mystic. On the morning of the 30th they gave Gamage a good scrub down, and in the afternoon we headed to the aquarium. The next morning brought a tour of the museum, some boat maintenance, and a trip into town for ice cream. The crew also got a little time to recharge during our stay.
This morning, July 1st, we got back underway, bound for New York. We'll see how far we get today and may anchor out or sail through the night, with plans to tie up in New York tomorrow evening.
Looking ahead, next week in New York is shaping up to be a scorcher — high 90s with heavy humidity. We'll be keeping an eye on it and adjusting our plans as needed to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
