Captains Log: Friday, April 24

A busy week onboard, waking Gamage from her long winter slumber.

The winter cover came down and was brought ashore—always a good day.

Sunlight back on the deck again. You can feel the shift immediately.

Booms and gaffs were lifted and set in place, and the rigging is going back aloft piece by piece. The engine has been serviced and de-winterized. Systems are coming back online, slowly and deliberately, each one checked as we go.

We motored across the yard to our summer dock, closer to the storage containers and the steady flow of work ahead.

Painting projects underway. Sails soon to be bent on. Provisioning lists building. A hundred small tasks, each one necessary.

This is the season of preparation. Always busy in the months before sailing—but this is how the ship comes back to life.
