Penobscot Homeward — A Journey from Bangor to Bucksport

Step aboard the historic schooner Harvey Gamage for an afternoon journey down the Penobscot River from Bangor to Bucksport.

Before boarding, guests are invited to attend a reception in Bangor from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The afternoon voyage will begin boarding at 1:45 PM at the Bangor City Dock.

During the sail, historians from the Penobscot Marine Museum will share stories about the communities, landmarks, old wharves, and maritime

industries found along the river. Learn how the Penobscot connected Maine’s inland communities to the coast and helped drive the region’s maritime history.

Guests will be joined by Penobscot Marine Museum historians Cipperly Good and Jon Johansen, along with historical reenactors who will help bring that history to life.
